GAC
member and Ag Division Chairman Dr. Tim Marshall of ABAC
needs your help to connect ABAC students with job opportunities across
the agribusiness industry. ABAC is pursuing project funding under the
GeorgiaHIRE Program coordinated by UGA’s Office of Economic Development.
The goal is to increase the pool of college-educated talent and access
to it for Georgia employers, especially in Georgia’s strategic
industries. Agriculture is one of five strategic industries. Many
Georgia agricultural industries have indicated a desire for ABAC to
create a system to facilitate the hiring of ABAC graduates. Marshall
wants to create an on-line system that is easily accessible by the three
legs of the “placement stool”: students, employers and educators. To
qualify for the GeorgiaHIRE funding, ABAC must have
collaboration with one or more employers in the targeted strategic
industry. All Georgia Agribusiness Council members qualify.
GAC has agreed to partner with ABAC on the funding request, but we need
interested GAC member employers to be willing to come alongside ABAC as
supporters and users of the proposed system. If successful, ABAC will
offer a system that will allow employers to post positions on the
Website, view student resume files, participate as internship employers
and attend career days on ABAC campus. If your company is
interested in becoming a partner in the GeorgiaHIRE/ABAC Project, please
contact Dr. Tim Marshall at 229-391-4793 or utilize the form below to
register online.
